Revival Plans in Play for the Brunel With New Leisure Tenant

Arrival of High Score Arcade marks change in direction for Swindon’s shopping centre

We are very excited to signal a change in direction at The Brunel with the arrival of High Score Arcade as we look to enhance the town centre’s leisure and entertainment offering.

The new lease has seen High Score Arcade launch its new 5,000 sq ft arcade at unit 14 and 15 at Brunel Plaza, adjacent to the Crossing Food Hub.

As one of the first free-play arcade branches to launch in the UK, High Score Arcade at The Brunel revolutionises the family entertainment experience by giving people unlimited access to games for a one-off entry fee.

The move into The Brunel follows the launch of High Score Arcade by Corporate Amusement Services during the Covid-19 pandemic, with an innovative new business model to make use of its corporate hire arcade games.

Forming part of our wider strategy to redevelop The Brunel, the arrival of the arcade represents a new direction for the centre, which we hope will entice people to the town centre in the evening through new family, competitive leisure and food outlets.

Tim Knowles, Managing Director of FI Real Estate Management, commented: “There is so much potential at The Brunel and we have a vision to retain the successful elements of the centre and build on this to create a high-end evening leisure destination. We are committed to creating an entirely new offer in the town centre, and by attracting the very best leisure, entertainment and food and beverage providers we will transform the centre into a vibrant space where the whole family can enjoy an evening out.”

Nicki Gamblin, Group Manager at High Score Arcades, added: “We are delighted to be opening our newest addition to High Score Arcades in the Brunel. We are keen to bring an exciting new element of family entertainment to the shopping centre. We pride ourselves on providing a fun, inclusive, safe environment for all ages - we really do have something for everyone at our venues. Increased footfall to the centre will also have a positive impact on local businesses.”
