Our very own Lynch Wood Park has extended its existing commitment to local sports club Peterborough Rugby Union Football Club (RUFC) with a donation of kitchen and dining facilities.
Keen to ensure the wider community would benefit from refurb works currently underway, Peterborough’s primary office hub has donated its previous restaurant furniture and catering equipment to the sports club. Already sponsors of the under 16s boys team, the Lynch Wood Park team’s significant donation of equipment and furniture will help to improve the club facilities for players and spectators.
Chairman of Peterborough RUFC, Dr Alan Graham said: “We are over the moon as, thanks to this donation, we can instead use our funds to upgrade the wider facilities of the club. As a small token of this kind gesture by the Lynch Wood Park team, we will now be changing the name of our club bar to The Lynch Wood Park Bar.
One of our team said: “We’re pleased that our programme of works is not only benefiting the business community here in Lynch Wood itself, but also the wider community of Peterborough. We hope Peterborough RUFC find that they have even more of a home-side advantage next season thanks to their upgraded facilities.”
Overbury, one of our contractors, added: “It’s fantastic for Overbury to be involved in working on this iconic building. We are passionate about reducing and eliminating the amount of waste that is sent to landfill particularly when it is still suitable for another use.
“What better way of recycling than for Peterborough RUFC to be able to use all of the surplus equipment? It’s great for them, great for us and great for the environment.”
Peterborough RUFC is a popular local club which has a history spanning more than 100 years, and now supports more than 20 teams of all age ranges. One of the club’s most notable players was Ron Jacobs – former England captain, Triple Crown and Calcutta Cup winner and later President of the Rugby Football Union in 1983.
Set in picturesque surroundings and boasting a highly striking interior, Lynch Wood Park is located at the heart of Peterborough Business Park, three miles west of Peterborough city centre.
The site currently totals 350,000 sq ft and is set within 11.74 hectares. Lynch Wood Park currently houses over 2,000 employees and is home to a range of businesses, from multi-national companies to local start-ups.
