Inspire – An On Side Youth Zone in Chorley – will be our nominated charity heading into the new year.
The Youth Zone, based on Chapel Street, is a purpose-built facility for young people aged 8-19 (up to 25 for those with disabilities). Hosting a range of activities including sports and arts, music, drama and employability workshops.
There are over 15,000 young people living in Chorley, some struggling with issues from obesity to poverty, Youth Zone’s goal is to reduce and prevent this from happening.
The Youth Zone is operated by five staff members, with the rest of their team comprising dedicated volunteers who share the belief that all young children should have something to do, somewhere to go and someone to talk to. For many of the children who attend, the centre is a place that they can still be children, feel safe, have someone to talk to and confide in.
Janine Blythe, Chief Executive of Inspire Youth Zone, commented : “We’re delighted to have been chosen as the Charity Partner for FI Real Estate Management (FIREM).
“Inspire Youth Zone provides a safe and inspiring place for young people to spend their leisure time, and at just £5 membership and 50p per visit, we ensure it is affordable to all of our almost 5,000 members.
“We couldn’t do this without the support of the business community and we are very grateful that FIREM feel as passionately as we do about ensuring that young people lead happy, healthy and aspirational lives.
“It’s this kind of businesses leadership that will make a huge difference to the lives of young people and future generations, ensuring all young people have somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.”
